The AI Tool You’re Using Wrong
Many people treat AI tools like Google on steroids: type a prompt, get a result, copy and paste. But that mindset leaves a lot of value on the table.
A marketing manager asks ChatGPT to “write a social media post about our new product.” It gives a bland, generic response. She copies it directly and gets poor engagement. What went wrong? She treated AI like a vending machine instead of a collaborator.
Better approach:
She could follow up with, “That’s too formal. Can you rewrite it in a fun, Gen Z tone with emojis?” and then “Add a call-to-action and make it 50% shorter.” Suddenly, she has a post that fits her audience and sounds human.
Actionable Insight:
Start with a clear, specific prompt.
Follow up with critique, like you would with a teammate.
Iterate. Ask for rewrites. Clarify tone, audience, and goals.
Use AI to explore options, not final answers.
Treat AI as a thought partner, not a solution engine.
